Acne Causes and Solutions

Acne (acne vulgaris) is a skin condition that arises from the inflammation of skin glands and hair follicles (the area where hair connects to the skin) and can leave marks on the skin.

Acne appears as spots or red lesions on the skin's surface due to inflammation. To effectively eliminate these spots and lesions, it is essential to understand acne better. So, let's answer the question of what causes acne:

Hormonal Conditions

People with hormonal issues may experience acne problems. In addition to acne, symptoms like skin redness, hair loss, irregular menstruation, and excessive hair growth may also be present.

Wrong or Fake Cosmetic Products

The use of incorrect or counterfeit cosmetic products can lead to acne issues on the skin. This is due to the conditions created for bacteria, which are present in small amounts on the skin, to multiply excessively and irregularly, leading to the development of inflammatory acne.

Genetic Predispositions

One of the main reasons for acne formation is genetic predispositions. Acne caused by genetic factors can start at an earlier age than usual.

Stress and Anxiety

Negative emotions such as stress or anxiety can also lead to acne problems on the skin. Acne related to stress and anxiety often occurs during periods that induce feelings of worry and excitement, such as exam times.

Puberty

During puberty, acne can occur due to factors like hormonal imbalances. However, while acne that appears during this period generally resolves quickly, new breakouts can still happen. The complete resolution of acne related to puberty may extend into the post-puberty period.

These factors are fundamental reasons for acne formation. For acne caused by these issues, some treatments, medications, and regular check-ups may be necessary. So, what should be done for acne on the skin?

1. Regular Water Intake and Balanced Diet

The most fundamental factor to eliminate acne is regular water consumption and balanced nutrition. People with acne problems should pay attention to their water intake. If water consumption is insufficient or excessive, problems can arise in the skin's pores, leading to issues with the skin's oil and moisture levels. The same reasons apply to regular nutrition. Therefore, attention should be paid to the balance of water and nutrients. An intake of 2-2.5 liters of water would be ideal for an individual.

2. Natural Methods

Chemical products used for acne treatment can lead to adverse effects or other skin problems. Instead, natural remedies and treatments can be preferred. For effective natural treatments for acne, first, you need to cleanse your skin. Applying rose water toner regularly to your cleansed skin will be beneficial for your acne.

You can also use natural masks instead of these methods. Here are some mask recipes for acne:

Recipe 1

  • 1 onion

  • 1 tablespoon green clay

  • Juice of half a lemon

Cook the onions and blend them. Dissolve the green clay with lemon juice and mix it with the blended onions. You can use this mixture as a mask for acne-prone skin. Additionally, thanks to the antibiotic properties of onions, the inflammation in the acne-affected area will also dry out with the mask.

Recipe 2

  • 1 teaspoon rice flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

  • Olive oil soap

First, wash your face with olive oil soap. Then mix 1 teaspoon of rice flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Apply the resulting mixture as a mask to your face and wait for 20 minutes. Afterwards, rinse your face with lukewarm water and wipe it with a mixture of sparkling water and half a lemon. By doing this mask a few times a week, you can get rid of acne.

Recipe 3

This recipe is used for oily skin. Therefore, if your skin is not oily, it is not recommended to apply it.

  • 1 cucumber

  • 1 teaspoon yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • 1 teaspoon oat flour

First, grate the cucumbers and squeeze out the juice. Mix the obtained juice with the other ingredients. You can use it as a mask on your face, either with gauze or directly. Wait for 20 minutes and then cleanse your skin. Afterward, apply a toner. You can eliminate acne by regularly applying this recipe.

In addition to all these recipes, there are also some cream recipes for acne. Here’s a cream recipe:

Recipe 1

  • 5 mL tea tree essential oil

  • 95 mL pure natural aloe vera gel

  • 1 dark-colored bottle

First, mix all the ingredients. Then, apply the resulting cream to your face. Store any leftover cream in a dark-colored bottle and keep it in a cool place.

With these methods, you can get rid of acne on your skin. However, before applying these recipes, you should consult your doctor due to the possibility of allergies or other issues.
